Hermitage Country Club:
As the first phase of implementation of their master plan, the Club chose to build a 49,500 square foot indoor tennis/fitness facility. This facility augments the Club’s 8 existing exterior courts with 4 interior courts, for the first time providing members the opportunity for year-round play.
In addition, this facility expands the club's fitness offerings with a fitness room over five times larger than the Club’s previous basement facility, as well as with a dedicated aerobics classroom with adjacent stretching area. Areas to promote member socialization and fellowship, such as a Café/Lounge located just off the Lobby and a private Tennis Lounge, were also included in the program.
As part of the master plan, stone, eyebrow dormers, and low roofs with wide overhangs had been identified as elements to be repeated throughout the Club’s campus, to provide visual unification.
At this Tennis/Fitness facility, the result was a soft, Craftsman style, with board and batten siding, a stone watertable, and bracketed overhangs blending with the metal panels of the pre-engineered metal tennis wing located in the background.
